GB100:

Q: What’s the purpose of GB100?
A: To help re-connect GB alumni with our school and with one another, through events and activities leading up to GB’s centennial in 2026.

Q: Why are we planning for GB’s Centennial so far in advance?
A: Other schools also started planning their centennials several years in advance. We felt it would be helpful to start early with smaller, annual events.

Q: Is there a committee running GB100?
A: No, at least not yet. Several volunteers, in consultation with other GB alumni are planning events and activities.

GB Alumni Re-Connect events:

Q: Was the GB Alumni Re-Connect in May 2016 a one-time event?
A: Not if we can help it!  In fact, we’re already planning our second event on May 13/2017.

Q: How much is admission?
A: We’re asking for a $5 donation from each GB alumni (family members can attend free).

Q: Can I bring my spouse and/or children?
A: Sure, family members are most welcome to join us. Our school booking agreement requires that youngsters be supervised at all times.

Q: What will the money be used for?
A: It will be used to cover our costs:
* approx $400 for renting the school (most of that fee is the cost of having a caretaker on shift),
* approx $110/year for webhosting this website (volunteers are putting it together)
* any refreshments we have to buy beyond those brought by attendees
Any money collected over and above our expenses will be donated to the GB Greenspace project.

Q: What kind of refreshments will there be?
A: Pot luck style and very simple. If you can, bring a package of store-bought cookies, juice/water/pop or some paper plates, napkins, etc.  Note we do not have a liquor permit, so we won’t be providing alcoholic beverages – and you’re not allowed to bring them in with you!

Q: Is anyone getting paid to organize this event?
A: No – this is an entirely volunteer-run effort! More volunteers are needed and most welcome!

Q: I’d like to help, how can I volunteer?
A: Great! We have all sorts of activities volunteers can help with, including helping to plan & organize events, contacting other GB alumni to inform them about activities/events, on-site event assistance (eg set-up, close-down/clean-up, welcoming table, putting up signs, purchasing/delivering/serving refreshments, etc!) Send us your contact info and how you’d like to help via the Questions / Comments page and we’ll get back to you. Thanks!
